Why is Grenada considered an "Outer Circle" country?
According to Kachru's three-model of World Englishes in Jenkins (2015), Grenada is an "Outer Circle" country (14). However, this fails to factor in that Grenada citizens learn English as their first (and for most, only) language. Kachru's model is based off of geography and history, so it fails to factor in the way speakers identify with English. I do not think the model accurately describes Grenada and the other countries which use English throughout their societies.
