While the Ministry of Education of Grenada is currently in charge of the educational system, it is still based off of the educational system in Britain. All of the school policy documents available online, utilize only the Standard English dialect. They are free from all Grenadian Creole words or sayings. That's not to say the Creole is not used in the classroom itself, but the government does not necessarily want to promote the use of it.
Organization of the Grenadian School System
Like most countries, there is free public school for all of the countries citizens. Also, it is only compulsory for people to go through the primary and secondary levels of schooling. However, there are four levels of education in which a person can choose to go through in Grenadian society:
Pre-Primary
Primary
Secondary
Tertiary
There are 57 public primary schools and 19 public secondary schools spread out across the island. There is only one community college on the island and only one Caribbean University with a satellite campus on Grenada. There is also a medical school, which has students from all over the world.
